Devi’s Fall (Patale Chhango)
Devi’s Fall, locally known as Patale Chhango (meaning “Underworld Waterfall”), is one of the most famous natural attractions in Pokhara, Kaski District. It is a powerful waterfall where water from the Phewa Lake drainage system suddenly disappears into a deep underground tunnel, creating a dramatic and mysterious natural phenomenon.
It is one of the most visited tourist spots in Pokhara and is usually combined with Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave located just opposite the fall.

History & Name Origin
The waterfall got its English name after a tragic incident in 1961:
- A Swiss couple reportedly fell into the waterfall area
- The woman (named Devi/Davis in local accounts) drowned due to sudden water surge
- After this event, it became internationally known as Devi’s Falls / Davis Falls
Locally, however, it is still widely called Patale Chhango.
